Unified data storage 'part of business continuity management'

20 May 2011

In the event of a disaster, an adequate emergency back-up system can assist in protecting data.

This is according to a spokesman for database and application security specialist Imperva, who noted unified storage solutions can be useful in cases of either natural or manmade crises.

However, he explained it is important when using systems for business continuity management that effective security measures are put in place.

"Sadly, with many enterprises, security is not a priority and companies only lock down data after a breach," the security solutions expert said.

He pointed out that, although data centres can be taken down by earthquakes, hackers or company insiders can attempt to wipe out information from networks, placing businesses at risk.

Speaking recently at the ICT for Oil & Gas Forum in Abu Dhabi, Injazat Data Systems Head of Consulting Services, Gregory Trinh, recently stated no organization is "immune" from disasters affecting their operations and so should be prepared for all kinds of disruption.
