NHS Primary Trust business continuity exercise completed

12 May 2010

A company specializing in business continuity planning has announced it has completed a year-long project for an NHS Primary Care Trust.

According to crisis management services provider Steelhenge Consulting, the scheme saw a new framework implemented by the body that will ensure patients still receive frontline care if a disruption occurs.

The business continuity solution is intended to enhance the "organizational resilience" of its hospitals and services, covering a written policy, risk assessments, business impact analysis and staff training.

Isobel Nicholas, Steelhenge Director of Marketing and Communications, explained the demands for companies and NHS operations vary widely.

"Our team had to ensure the language of business continuity was reframed in a way that was made meaningful for staff whose roles are completely different to those in the business world," she explained.

Steelhenge Consulting has also carried out a major new business continuity project for the Natural History Museum, which included crisis management training.
