BSI scoops awards at international Business Continuity Conference

17 November 2009

BSI has picked up two awards at the Business Continuity Institute’s (BCI) annual BCM World Conference and Exhibition in London.

John Hele, Group Product Manager, at BSI, won a BCI Achievement Award in recognition of his role in developing international awareness of BCM and enhancing the global partnership between the BCI and BSI.

Dave Adamson, BCM, Risk and Security Committee Manager at BSI, received a BCI Achievement Award for his work in establishing BCM as a recognized discipline, raising awareness of BCM and enhancing the authority of BCM practitioners. This award acknowledges Dave’s extensive work on the development and international promotion of BS 25999, BSI’s BCM standard

On receiving the award, Dave Adamson said: “Interest in Business Continuity Management has expanded rapidly in the last few years. It has become a priority issue for many public sector organizations, SMEs and multinational organizations. BS 25999, BSI’s BCM standard, published in 2006, is now used by organizations around the world to put in place a robust system which will allow their operations to continue following a disruption, be it an everyday systems failure or a larger scale crisis. John and I are delighted to have been recognized and look forward to working with the BCI in the future to further promote the benefits of BCM.”

Both awards were presented on 11 November at a ceremony as part of the 2009 BCM World Conference and Exhibition held in London.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lorraine Darke, Executive Director of the BCI, said, “I’m delighted for John and Dave. They’ve made a great contribution to the development of BCM in the UK and around the world. BCM has been raised higher up the boardroom agenda over the last few years thanks to champions like Dave and John.”
