BSI Chairman Sir David John together with senior managers from BSI Management Systems (MS) and BSI British Standards were in the UAE to support the local MS team – headed by Theuns Kotze, Regional Director – launch BS 25999 for Business Continuity Management (BCM) in the Middle East region. Events were held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, where BSI promoted the potential of BCM to an audience of 172 prospective clients from both public and private sectors.
The launch generated extensive media interest with online and offline coverage, including radio and television. Both events created a positive response with a clear recognition of the benefits BCM systems can provide to the high growth economies of the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi conference was supported by the UK Ambassador to the UAE, Mr Edward Oakden whilst the event in Dubai was supported by the UK Consul General to Dubai, Mr John Hawkins.
