3rd Annual BCM Conference

British Standard Institution's 3rd annual BCM conference was held on 16 July in London, 18 months after the publication of the first British Standard on Business Continuity: BS 25999-1.

Bruce Mann, Director of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat delivered a keynote address. Chairman and other speakers included: John Sharp, Managing Director of Kiln House Associates; Hugh Leighton, Risk Consultant Director at Aon; Paul Stennett, Chief Executive of United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS); and representatives from the Financial Services Authority and LRQA.

The conference was attended by business continuity professionals; risk, crisis, facilities and quality managers; company and IT directors; Health and Safety managers; members of certification bodies and auditors. Delegates had the opportunity to:

  • Listen to the latest news on BS 25999 and other continuity-related standards
  • Find out the current situation on BCM certification – processes and requirements
  • Hear predictions on trends in future threats and how to manage them
  • Understand BCM problems and best practice solutions, including Case Studies from those leading the way
