BSI and Kitemark a Superbrand winning duo

01 March 2010

BSI and Kitemark have both been independently awarded Superbrands status in the latest 2010 survey of Business Superbrands. This is the sixth consecutive year that BSI has been awarded the accolade and for Kitemark represents three years in a row for its Superbrands status.

Achieving Superbrands status is independent verification that BSI and Kitemark represent quality, reliability and distinction. Status is only achieved after a stringent and searching selection process which is independently administered by The Centre of Brand Analysis.  Having considered thousands of brands, the views of a voluntary council – comprised of brand experts – together with over 1,700 individual business executives from across the UK are analysed.  A list of the top 500 Business Superbrands and top 500 Consumer Superbrands is then produced.

Overall in the Business Superbrands listing, Kitemark was placed at 170 in the chart whilst BSI reached a position of 216. Other well-known brands on the list include Coca-Cola, Microsoft, American Express, Deutsche Bank, Starbucks and Virgin.

Marc Edney, BSI’s Group Brand Development Manager said: “Achieving Superbrands status is something we should all be very proud of.  It’s a reflection of the hard work that all staff has put in to maintaining high standards in all that we do and making our company a leading brand in our sector.”

Claire Lynam, BSI’s Head of Communications & Alliance adds: “Kitemark’s appearance for the third year in a row is further confirmation of the Kitemark’s status as the leader among certification schemes.  However, we are never tempted to rest on our laurels and we are continuing to invest in and promote the Kitemark, thereby increasing its scope and its value both to Kitemark licensees, and to those that rely on it for sound guidance when purchasing or specifying products and services.
