Free BS 25999 workshop in Leeds, UK

17 March 2010

Business Continuity, as a management discipline, is providing organisations of all sizes and in every sector with the practical tools to minimise the unfortunate effects of the disruptions that can so easily result in lost production, frustrated customers and damaged reputations.  BS25999 is the British Standard that describes and defines the requirements of best practice in the development of effective business continuity management systems.

In order to encourage organisations to make full use of BS25999, the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the UK Civil Contingencies Secretariat (CCS, part of the Cabinet Office) have joined forces to develop and deliver a programme of workshops that will provide users and intending users of BS25999 with the opportunity to learn more about the standard and to network with others with similar interest in improving the resilience of their organisations.  The first of these workshops was held in London in September 2009 and the next event takes place in Leeds on Wednesday 28th April.

As a result of a grant from the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) and with the generous assistance of Leeds City Council, attendance at the BS25999 Users’ Workshop is free.  Priority will be given to maximising the number of companies that are represented at the workshop and so we may ask second and subsequent requests from any one organisation to join a waiting list.

When
28 April, Leeds, UK
, the programme, which runs from 10:00 until 16:15 and includes lunch, covers a range of topics relating to BS25999.  Delegates will also engage in small-group discussions to address issues that they have identified as most important to their understanding and deployment of this important British Standard.

The workshop programme includes

  • A case study that describes the journey from considering the potential value of BS25999, through development of business continuity plans, to formal certification against the Standard.
  • A technical briefing that explains how to meet key requirements of BS25999.
  • A briefing on current developments designed to extend the value of an investment in BS25999.
  • Facilitated discussions and informal networking opportunities for the exchange of ideas and experience with like-minded business managers.

Please let us know that you would like to attend and we will advise acceptances by 16 April 2010.
