On 9 April over 400 people attended BSI China’s launch event for BS 25999 - the business continuity management (BCM) standard. The event was organised with the help of the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) the governing national accreditation body responsible for the management, supervision and coordination of assessment and certification in China.
The introduction to the event was delivered by Sir David John, BSI Chairman, and was followed by a welcome speech from Flemming Norklit, Managing Director, BSI Management Systems. Key note speakers included: Deng Shoupeng, Director-General of the Development & Research Center of the State Council; Frank Post, BSI Group Communications Director; Hou Weidong, CIO of Bank of Communications, China; Henry Ee, Asia Chairman of the Business Continuity Institute; and Jianmin Li, BSI China senior technical manager.
The Beijing event was extremely successful with attendees mainly from the financial services, telecommunications and IT sectors, and echoed the successful launches held recently in London, Tokyo, New York, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Following the launch, a series of press interviews were conducted with Flemming Norklit, Frank Post and Mo Yuan Liu, Country Manager for BSI China.
