BCM certification helps Fujitsu win bid

03 November 2008

Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu FSAS Inc were awarded certification to the Business Continuity Management Standard BS 25999 in April 2008, and the certification was endorsed by UKAS in September. It was the first BS 25999 certification issued in Japan and a ceremony took place to celebrate this in Tokyo on 22nd October.

At a press briefing held to mark the ceremony, Mr. Hideo Sekine, Corporate Senior Executive Vice President, Fujitsu FSAS Inc. said "we have improved our own preparedness so that we can offer our customers an integrated approach to protect their systems and manage their operational risk in the event of any service interruption or disaster"

Mr. Haruyuki Iida, President IT infrastructure Service Business Unit, Fujitsu Limited spoke of the benefit of obtaining BS 25999 Certification. "Earlier this year, we won a tender for a public sector contract with Kyoto University . The certification that was awarded to Fujitsu for meeting the Business Continuity Management standard gave us a strong position heading into the bidding process with this National University. The experiences and knowledge Fujitsu accumulated in the area of Business Continuity Management solutions during the past years are key to ensuring Fujitsu can build sustainable relationships with their clients by offering an integrated but gradual approach that can help clients to resume operation after the event of a disaster."
