BCI launches Business Continuity World Conference and Exhibition

20 February 2009

The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) has announced it is to run a major new event to fill the void in the Business Continuity Management market left by the unexpected cancellation of Reed Exhibition's UK based BC EXPO. Incorporating the prestigious and well established BCI Symposium, the event will be rebranded as the 'BCM World Conference and Exhibition' and will take place on 11th and 12th November 2009 at the Novotel London West Hotel and Convention Centre, Hammersmith, London, UK.

Interest from members of the BCI Partnership in this new initiative has been very high and many enquiries from frustrated BC EXPO exhibitors have been taken by the BCI.

Lorraine Darke, BCI Executive Director comments, "For many vendor organisations BC EXPO was their main opportunity during the course of the year to gather sales leads, find new customers and launch new products. The disappointment following the cancellation of BC EXPO was palpable and partners and members looked to their Institute to fill the gap. By launching BCM World Conference and Exhibition we are offering an opportunity for the BCM industry to get together, share best practice, network and simply do business. As a not for profit organisation we believe we can offer excellent value for money for exhibitors - this event is "for the Industry by the Industry".

A major new marketing campaign is scheduled to encourage maximum visitor numbers to the free to attend exhibition. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to hold 'showcases' on the exhibition floor, educating visitors and conference delegates about their products and various aspects of the industry. The conference element of the event will continue to reflect the high standard expected from a BCI Symposium including a number of streams consisting of presentations and case studies relevant to those new to business continuity through to the most experienced of practitioners. In acknowledgement of the current economic situation, the BCI are offering Super Early Bird conference rates for delegates until the end of April. Exhibitor rates are also being kept to a minimum with BCI Partners being given preferential booking.

For information about attending as a delegate, exhibitor or visitor and to register your interest, please contact Lucy Burns at lucy.burns@thebci.org.

British Standards Institution (BSI) is delighted to announce its full support for this BCI initiative. As an exhibitor at BC EXPO, BSI shares the frustration that others have felt by the cancellation of the event. Having previously exhibited at the BCI Symposium and played a key speaking role in the conference, BSI is confident that the BCI's new BCM World Conference and Exhibition can more than fill the gap left by the cancellation of BC Expo. BSI will have a strong presence at the exhibition and conference.

BSI's Global Marketing Manager, Paul Lanham adds "We trust that many other organizations will join BSI at this important event and support the BCI and the BCM industry. It's particularly vital at this time that BCM should be firmly on the agenda for all organizations; BCM can help build confidence in today's uncertain markets. The BCI exhibition and conference provides an opportunity for organizations to get together and showcase the latest BCM developments and solutions. For example for BSI, the conference provides the perfect platform to highlight BS 25999, the internationally recognized best practice standard for BCM".
