21 June 2009 - 23 June 2009
Bournemouth International Centre,
England
The Alarm Annual Conference 2009, to be held in Bournemouth on 21- 23 June, will be looking at how risk managers can rise to meet the challenges and opportunities for the public services over the coming years, from the global level to the local. The educational sessions will provide insight on both operational and strategic risk issues, with sessions ranging from practical risk management for police to introducing ERM for national government. Whether you're working in one of the areas covered by the streamed sessions, or in partnership with those who do, there will be immediate, relevant lessons to take away from top speakers in housing, local and national government, police, fire & rescue, health & safety, BCM, insurance and general interest topics.
As the current global crisis demonstrates, inadequate controls on financial speculation can lead some institutions to behave like gamblers. One of Alarm's keynote speakers knows the psychology of risk and gambling inside out. Caspar Berry, top flight poker player and sports commentator, has a fascinating take on perceptions of risk and how it affects individual and collective behaviour. Roger Flynn, the opening keynote speaker, is also very familiar with the world of corporate risk, having occupied the boardrooms of some famously risk taking corporate leaders including Gregg Dyke and Richard Branson.
John Kirkpatrick of the Audit Commission will deliver the second keynote address of the programme. John is the Director of Policy, Research and Studies at the Audit Commission. With the CAA at the forefront of many minds, his session will provide an invaluable insight into the Commission's latest thinking.
